1Why people look for an alternative
Google's help centre says Gmail shows ads when you open it. Google says it doesn't read your messages to choose them, and you can turn off ad personalization, but the ads stay. And an address on your own domain needs Google Workspace, from $7.00 per user a month.

3What else you get
- No tracking pixels, no analytics tools, no profile of you. Your inbox is not a product.
- Mail, stored files and backups stay in Germany and the Netherlands; transfers stay in the EU.
- Exito Vault for your files, in the same 5 GB, and Exito Transfer for sending big files by link.
- Use it on the web, or in the iPhone, Android and Outlook mail apps.
4What Gmail does better
Gmail gives you more free storage: 15 GB against our 5 GB. It also comes with Google Docs, Calendar and Meet. If you rely on those every day, Gmail may still suit you better. Neither service encrypts your mail end to end.
5Switching takes a few minutes
Sign up and pick your new address, or connect your own domain. Then, in Gmail's settings (Forwarding and POP/IMAP), forward new mail to your new address so nothing gets lost while people learn it. Keep the Gmail account as long as you like. To bring old mail across, add both accounts to Thunderbird or Apple Mail and drag your folders over.
